Orders: Wholesale/Retail
Urban Forestry’s nursery operation is set up to provide wholesale seedling material to the restoration industry, landowners, and commercial growers of larger stock. However, we do recognize that smaller consumers would like to have access to seedling material and hard-to-find species that we carry. So, we attempt to satisfy all groups with our tiered pricing and minimum order requirement. The tiered pricing is fashioned with two considerations in mind: quantity ordered and difficulty of propagation.
If you are a wholesale buyer that desires a custom grow and you place a 25% deposit on the order, we can do the propagation and can provide you with quality seedlings at the time you need them for your project or crop rotation.
If you don’t have the good fortune of knowing the future, we do produce most of the species listed in our catalogue on a speculative basis. These species become available on a regular basis throughout the year.
To place an order or receive a quote, contact us with your species list and quantities. Let us know whether you would like to pick up the order at the nursery or have the material shipped. If you wish to pick up at the nursery, we can quote you the final price over the phone or in an email. If shipping is desired, provide us with your contact and shipping information. We will then determine the best way to ship and obtain a quote from that shipper ( FedEx or an LTL dedicated nursery stock carrier) before we quote you the sale amount. Wholesale buyers should provide a signed and dated copy of their current “Florida Annual Resale Certificate for Sales Tax” for our records.
Pricing
Our minimum order amount is $30.00 whether you get 1 seedling or more. Our pricing tiers are based on several factors: wholesale or retail status, total quantity ordered, and the difficulty involved in acquiring and germinating the seeds of the species. Wholesale pricing is available to commercial nurseries and public and private ecological restoration professionals. Wholesale pricing is also available to individuals placing orders for more than 150 seedlings. Retail pricing applies to buyers of small quantities for personal use. Our customers routinely order quantities ranging from 1 seedling to tens of thousands of multiple species. And seed may be available from our stock plants or may require a trip in a canoe through gator and pirate infested waters (shiver me timbers!). The ease of propagation ranges from just scattering the seed in the general direction of the nursery (easy peasy) to months or a year of preparation involving acids, enzymes, plant hormones, and patience (watched pots do boil, sometimes). Nursery Pick Up & Shipping
Customers wishing to pick up seedlings at the nursery are welcome to do so. Once you place an order, it can take us some time to fill. The time is required because we will select and grade each seedling to be placed into the trays. Once you have determined the species and numbers of the plants you would like, give us a call or email us with that information. Based on the numbers, personal schedule, and your seedling criteria we can set up a firm time for pick up. Seedlings for pick up are provided at our front gate and payment is required at that time.
Customers are also welcome to have their seedlings shipped. For smaller orders, we use FedEx. Orders that are shipped FedEx will be removed from the tray and bagged so that they can be shipped in a 10″x10″x24″ box. Larger orders may be shipped via a trucking company that specializes in handling nursery stock. Availability of this latter method will depend on your nursery’s location relative to the trucking company’s routes. We look to provide the lowest cost shipping for each individual order. Payment for the order and shipping costs is required prior to shipment.
